About me

I am published writer, a speaker on many aspects of emotional and psychological health at work, including being a regular speaker and chair at the Health and Wellbeing at Work Conference.  I am a Director on the Board of Directors for The Council for Work and Health, and Co-Chair for the Mental Health Group. I am a Member of the Workplace Executive for BACP.  

With over 20 years experience working in UK Mental Health in the charitable, public and private sectors, offering counselling, psychotherapy, talks, training, and group facilitation and supervision.

I actively contribute to national organisations to advocate for and enhance the quality of mental health interventions both within and outside of workplace environments.

I have a passion for bringing the insights of psychological theory into practical application in people’s lives and for good sustainable practice of workplace mental health.

I have worked with a broad range of personal issues including (but not limited to) abuse, addictions, AIDS and HIV, anger, anxiety, neurodiversity and autism spectrum conditions; bereavement, loss and setback; physical health issues; childhood and family issues; depression, eating disorders, fertility concerns, menopause, obsessive compulsion conditions and perfectionism; phobias and trauma and post-traumatic stress; racism, prejudice and cultural difference;  self-esteem and self-confidence; self-harm and suicidal feelings; sexual and gender related issues, stress.

Work related issues have included (but not limited to) bullying, harassment and intimidation and/or discrimination, conflict, change, career frustration, redundancies, communication issues, leadership and management issues, unreasonable work demands or conditions, job insecurity, work overwhelm, training and resource issues, imposter syndrome, unrealistic expectations, neglect or micromanagement. 

I am a BACP (https://www.bacp.co.uk) accredited and I abide by the BACP Ethical Framework (https://www.bacp.co.uk/events-and-resources/ethics-and-standards/ethical-framework-for-the-counselling-professions) which sets standards for good practice in counselling and psychotherapy. This means I work to BACP professional standards by practising within the bounds of my professional competence and by keeping my skills and knowledge up to date. I receive professional supervision in accordance with the professional standards recommended by BACP.
